WHEN THE MAINS SUPPLY IS INTERRUPTED

Focus on what needs to keep running.

A power cut, supply fault or planned shutdown can leave a building without the electricity its daily operations depend on. South Coast Hire Group can discuss temporary generator hire and the connected equipment needed while your normal supply is unavailable.

Start with the essential loads, the location and the likely outage duration. We will discuss the information needed to assess a suitable temporary arrangement, confirm availability and explain the next steps.

Commercial premises

Discuss temporary power for essential business equipment, working areas and building services that have been assessed for generator supply.

Managed buildings

Work with your facilities team and electrical contractor to identify the loads, connection point and practical arrangements.

Planned shutdowns

Prepare a temporary power arrangement ahead of electrical works, maintenance or a scheduled supply interruption.

HOW WE CAN SUPPORT YOU

Generation. Connections. A practical plan.

Select the generator

Assess the running load, starting demand, supply phase and operating hours. Essential loads may need a different plan from powering the whole building.

Plan distribution & cabling

Identify where power is needed and how it can be supplied. Cable routes, access and connection arrangements are part of the assessment.

Discuss fuel & continuity

Consider the expected outage duration, running hours, fuel access and which supplies need resilience. Ask about backup or compatible synchronised arrangements.

A temporary generator does not guarantee an uninterrupted supply. If your operation cannot tolerate a break, explain this at the start so continuity arrangements can be assessed.

BUILDING CONNECTIONS

Coordinate with the people responsible for your installation.

Powering selected standalone equipment and connecting a generator to a building are different jobs. Building connections require a competent electrician to assess the installation and provide suitable isolation and changeover arrangements. We can discuss the generator, distribution and cabling alongside your building team.

Tell us whether a generator connection point or changeover arrangement already exists, who maintains the installation and which services have been identified as essential. The final method and responsibilities need to be agreed before connection.

WHEN YOU CALL

Have these details ready if you can.

  • Building address and postcode, plus a contact who is on site.
  • What has lost power and the essential equipment you want to run.
  • When power was lost, any expected restoration information and the likely support duration.
  • Electrical contractor or facilities contact, supply phase and connection details if known.
  • Vehicle access, possible outdoor generator position and the route to the supply point.
  • Expected operating hours, fuel access and any particularly sensitive or critical loads.

You do not need a complete technical specification to start a conversation. Tell us what you know and which details your electrician or facilities team can provide.

FROM FIRST CALL TO TEMPORARY SUPPLY

Understand the requirement. Confirm the arrangement.

01 / Call the team

Explain the outage, location, essential loads and urgency. Phone is the best first route for an urgent requirement.

02 / Check what is practical

We discuss equipment availability, access, connection responsibilities and the scope of support that can be arranged.

03 / Agree the next steps

Confirm the quotation, equipment and delivery or collection arrangements. Your electrical contractor handles the agreed building connection.

Equipment availability, delivery timings and the support we can provide are confirmed for each enquiry. Sending a form does not reserve equipment or confirm an emergency response.

PLAN BEFORE THE NEXT INTERRUPTION

An outage plan is easier to prepare before an outage.

If your building depends on a reliable supply, discuss a contingency brief with us ahead of time. Record essential loads, contacts, connection arrangements, generator access and the fuel requirements for a longer interruption.

Send site information and PDF plans for a planned requirement. For a current outage, call first.

EMERGENCY GENERATOR HIRE / QUESTIONS

What you may need to know.

Can a generator power the whole building?

That depends on the building demand, starting loads and electrical installation. Sometimes powering selected essential services is the more practical starting point. Discuss the requirement with us and your electrician.

Do you guarantee an immediate delivery or restoration time?

Availability and timings need to be confirmed for your location and requirements. Call the team to discuss the current situation.

Can you connect directly to our building?

The connection must be assessed and completed by competent electrical personnel using an appropriate arrangement. We can coordinate equipment requirements with your electrical contractor; responsibilities are agreed for each job.

Can we arrange temporary power for a planned shutdown?

Yes. Share the date, duration, building loads and electrical contractor details so the temporary arrangement can be discussed in advance.
